In an era of unprecedented global connectivity, the struggles and resilience of Hindus facing violence and persecution often go unrecognized. This fortnightly report brings these overlooked narratives to light by providing an unbiased and comprehensive selection of news agencies’ reports offering an overview of incidents impacting the Hindu community worldwide, while also celebrating Hindu heritage. Through this initiative, we seek to raise awareness and advocate for the protection of Hindu rights and religious freedom globally.

The 130-year-old Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple in Kuala Lumpur faces pressure to relocate after the government sold its land to a private company, Jakel Trading, which plans to build a mosque. While officials deny demolition plans, the temple management argues that relocation threats persist despite available space for both places of worship to coexist, raising concerns over cultural heritage and religious harmony.

India

An Indian-American student has accused the University of Houston’s "Lived Hindu Religion" course of Hinduphobia, charging that it distorts Hinduism by portraying it as a political tool rather than an ancient spiritual tradition. The controversy highlights growing concerns over academic misrepresentation of Hindu beliefs and history.

Sambhal Police denied permission for the Neja Mela, traditionally held to honor Syed Salar Masood Ghazi, a historical figure linked to the looting of Somnath Temple. A grenade attack targeted Amritsar’s Thakurdwara Temple, with CCTV footage capturing two masked men involved. The police suspect the involvement of Pakistan’s ISI and local youths, while forensic teams are investigating the incident.

Girgaon’s ISKCON Temple, popularly known as ISKCON Chowpatty, hosted an interfaith Holi Milan, which was conceptualised by the Inter-religious Solidarity Council. The gathering of all the religions proved to be a mark of communal harmony with the Holi Milan also acting as an iftar party for the Muslim attendees.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said recently that only Hindus should be employed at the Tirumala Temple in the state.

"If individuals from other religions are currently working there, they will be relocated to other places without hurting their sentiments," Chandrababu Naidu was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.

A ‘Shivling’ and an idol were found damaged in a temple in Etah, sparking protests by Hindu groups demanding swift action against the perpetrators.

The completion of the first floor of Ram Mandir will mark the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Darbar in Ayodhya. The idols of Ram Darbar, carved from white Makrana marble, will reach Ayodhya on April 30, marking the next phase of the Ram Mandir's sanctification. The Pran Pratishtha ceremony will take place on the temple’s first floor, with limited access to devotees, while the second floor will showcase the Ramayana in multiple languages.
