Why Alternative News Matters

Mainstream media often ignores or buries stories of Hindu persecution in Bangladesh. The truth remains hidden not because these atrocities don’t occur, but because they aren't given attention. This newsletter brings forth these unheard voices—real lives affected by violence and oppression. Silence is not an option.

A Look at Some of the Stories from April 2025:

April 30, 2025

On 30th April, the High Court of Bangladesh granted bail to former ISKCON priest, Chinmoy Krishna Das, after a whopping span of 156 days. Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu is the spokesperson of Bangladesh’s Sanatan Jagaran Manch and the chief of Pundarik Dham in Chittagong. He was arrested on 25th November last year on dubious charges of ‘sedition.’

However, the decision was challenged before the Appellate Division's chamber judge Justice Rezaul Haque, who stayed the ruling.

On Sunday (27th April), Hindus living in Uchakhila Union in Mymensingh district of Bangladesh staged a protest against the vandalism of an under-construction temple by Muslims and attempts to turn a 200-year-old crematorium into a ‘cattle market’.

April 20, 2025

In Sitakunda, Chittagong, veteran Hindu teacher Kanti Lal Acharya was assaulted by a Muslim mob and forced to resign after 35 years of service. His mistreatment highlights the growing insecurity faced by Hindus in Bangladesh’s education sector.

April 19, 2025

April 11, 2025

In Dinajpur’s Bantara village, over 150 Hindu families fled as Islamist mobs—backed by Jamaat-e-Islami and Hefazat—imposed house arrest, shut Hindu shops, and threatened women under false blasphemy charges. Police watched in silence as Hindus were assaulted, arrested, and silenced for merely resisting persecution.

April 7, 2025

In Tangail, Bangladesh, a Hindu man named Akhil Chandra Mondal was brutally assaulted by a Muslim mob over false blasphemy charges; shockingly, police arrested the victim instead of the attackers. The 40-year-old was dragged, stripped, and beaten with rods for allegedly posting a cartoon on Facebook.

Why We Must Continue to Report and Demand Justice:

The silence of mainstream media only makes it more important for us to seek alternative sources of information. Every day, Hindus in Bangladesh continue to face unimaginable fear, pain, and suffering. But as long as we remain silent, the cycle continues. By staying informed, spreading awareness, and calling for justice, we can ensure that the Hindu community’s plight is not forgotten.

Together, We Must Stand Up for the Truth.

As we move forward, let’s remember that this is not just an issue for Bangladesh—it’s a global issue that demands our collective action. The struggle for justice is ongoing, and it’s up to each of us to make sure the suffering of Hindus in Bangladesh is no longer hidden.
